The cruel truth is that only 8% will succeed with their 2022 resolution take off
Your 2022 resolution will be the same fantastic journey we make yearly with significant changes. Do you remember last year?
“This time, I’m going to be healthier, save money, sleep earlier, read a book each week, spend more time with people I care about, and find the love of my life.”
What could go wrong?
However, every time, it’s the same. The time is 12 on the 31st, and bam! You’re a new person! All those occasions that made you feel bad about yourself go out the door! Well, for a couple of weeks or so.
According to surveys, out of the 45% of Americans who typically make a New Year resolution, only 8% of them will succeed.
Wow, that is disheartening. There are 3 main reasons you will have such difficulties succeeding with your New Year resolution.
- Too many
- Too vague
- Unrealistic
It can be quite easy to make a huge bucket list of everything you want to change about yourself and let 2022 be a great year. The problem is that we have so many competing priorities.
So, how to make the 2022 resolution take off a successful one? Today is a perfect moment to decide and become a member of the exclusive 8% circle that doesn’t fail.
Simplicity is the key
The first rule for a successful New Year resolution 2022 is to keep it simple.
Rather than list 80 different things you want to achieve within the next year, try staying to one to three goals that are imperative to you.
A good idea to start out somewhere would be to review the previous year. What happened at this time one year ago?
If you failed on any of your resolutions for 2021 (which is likely), figure out why it happened. Make it more straightforward in case the goal was important to you, and you would like to repeat it this year.
“If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” – Albert Einstein
Let the quote of Einstein lead you toward the correct definition of your goal and make your 2022 resolution take off on a flight that lasts for the entire year. You should be able to wake up at 3 AM at night, make a laser-precise definition of your goal, and still be half asleep.
Your 2022 Resolution Take-Off Must Be Specific
Airplane pilots know exactly what to do every single second during take-off. There is a detailed checklist of what to do, no matter what happens during departure. Why should your 2022 resolution follow a different pattern?
Make your own checklist, and keep it specific!
It’s alright to have an overall goal of “be healthier,” but that’s really vague. So to reach that long-term goal, set smaller sub-goals that are measurable. Once you reach your sub-goal, you can tick it off on your checklist and concentrate on the next one as a professional pilot.
Another advantage of sub-goals is achieving your goals much faster than if it was only one big general goal. Psychologically you will get more positive vibes by achieving more goals and more quickly.
In an interesting article by the American Psychological Association (APA), the science of willpower is described as an essential variable for achieving goals. It is more efficient to focus on a single target rather than attacking a list of multiple resolutions at once.
Usually, a New Year’s resolution is a significant promise. Cutting it down into smaller pieces would make it more accessible to fulfill as willpower will be optimized.
Make A Serious and Safe 2022 Resolution Take Off
Make your New Year resolution 2022 a serious commitment, not a “Pie In the Sky” promise. A pilot flying the airplane on spontaneous feelings and not according to a laser-specific procedure with a checklist will probably get into problems. The risk is high that the aircraft will crash. Think about it when preparing your 2022 resolution take-off.
Even though the new year can be exciting and full of possibilities, it can also be stressful. You might commit yourself to getting your old favorite pants to fit again or changing your job situation.
According to the APA, 46% of Americans usually make a New Year resolution. But 45% of the group making a resolution is failing. The good news is that people who make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t explicitly make resolutions.
Thus, even if failing with your resolutions, you’re improving your behavior, and without noticing it, step by step, you’re getting better each time you announce a New Year resolution.
The crucial question is, what is a serious and professional commitment?
A plan and it should be honest and genuine. Also, your total commitment is required.
Many articles and books have been written about plans, how to make a plan, and what not to do, and the more you read, the more confused you’ll get.
I didn’t understand the foundation of a reliable and serious plan until I came across the Golden Circle by Simon Sinek. Not until you clearly understand why you should commit to something you’ll understand what to do and how to do it.
Make Your 2022 Resolution Take Off Really Happen
Whatever journey you are doing in life, you need to ask yourself:
Which is your preferred destiny?
- Ask yourself WHY you should choose the New Year resolution 2022 you are doing
- WHAT do you need to do to get it to happen
- HOW are you going to do it – “How To Convert Your Dreams Into Realities.”
- Set a DEADLINE; otherwise, the action plan will have a tendency to fade out by itself. A deadline will keep your plan alive.
- MEASUREall achievements. The wise words “what is measurable is achievable” is more accurate than ever
Your 2022 resolution take-off could be the most exciting and safe one you have ever done. Once onboard and after take-off, the airplane will continue to its final destination without any optional alternatives.
