You can also challenge your limits with the correct approach
Challenge your limits, and a new range of opportunities will open up. The pandemic indeed, has changed the way people are viewing the future. In a way, Coronavirus has pushed every single individual out of their comfort zones.
Many have lost their jobs as a consequence of the pandemic. Involuntarily, you need to challenge your limits, to just find a way to create a future.
The famous comfort zone is often the biggest hurdle to get started. Or as John Assaraf said:
“A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.”
One of the most critical ingredients in successful entrepreneurship is to know how to challenge your limits. In a few seconds, you will get the recipe for outstanding performance in whatever you are doing in your life.
But, rule number one to challenge your limits is to change your habits and act outside your comfort zone.
Fleas can jump over 150 times their body height!
If you put a flea in a jar with a lid on top, it will eventually stop jumping as high as it can. Quickly it learns that there is a limit to how high it can jump. It is fascinating to notice that it stays within that limit even after the limit is removed.
Humans act in the same way. If we fail enough times, we eventually start to believe that our ability to succeed is limited. So, we stop trying.
We settle for mediocre. We start to believe we are just like all the other fleas in the jar.
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.” – Albert Einstein
The frog race
Another famous story giving us a similar message is the one about The Frog Race:
There was once a bunch of tiny frogs who arranged a running competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower. A big crowd gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants.
The race began….
No one in the crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. They shouted,
“Oh, way too difficult!!! They will NEVER make it to the top.”
and
“Not a chance. The tower is too high.”
The tiny frogs began collapsing, one by one except for those who, in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher….
The crowd continued to yell,
“It’s too difficult! No one will make it!”
More tiny frogs got tired and gave up…. But one continued higher and higher. This one wouldn’t give up! And the frog reached the top.
Everyone wanted to know how this one frog managed such a great feat.
His secret? This little frog was deaf!
Challenge Your Limits by Resetting
We all learn from these stories that we need to ignore the pessimism of others and presumed limits. It can take away your dreams from you.
From childhood, we learned that failing is something bad or negative. So, why are all famous entrepreneurs who made a fortune proud of all their failures?
There is a vast difference between failing and failing. When you fail with something and view it as a mistake, something terrible and negative, your education will immediately send signals to your brain. You should leave what you´re doing and never try it again.
In such a case, the failure will not serve for anything more than decreasing your self-esteem.
Instead, viewing the failure as a natural part of the process of something bigger, you will almost welcome the failures. Why? Because you learned something that will be to your advantage towards your final goal.
When learning about how Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and other famous entrepreneurs succeeded, it’s easy to describe them as stubborn. But that’s the way people view it with a limited mindset. In fact, in every failure they made, they saw another step toward the goal.
In today’s world, with changes taking place faster than ever, it’s essential to understand, accept, and take advantage of the new “wave” rolling in. It’s not a soft summer breeze wave. It’s a “tsunami,” and for those not preparing themselves for this dramatic change, well, they will be left behind like the frogs not being deaf.
Of course, you are not a flea in a jar. You have to explore new opportunities that can perfectly fit for you. But as humans, sometimes the chains that hold us back are more mental than physical. And that’s good news.
Time to reset
For various physical reasons, not everyone can be a Haile Gebrselassie, Florence Griffith Joyner, or Michale Phelps.
But so far, no science has proven that not every human can establish their mental conditions. As always in life, some people will do it by themselves without any help or support.
Others will need coaching to achieve the correct psychological mindset. However, it’s you, and no one else who take the decision and the beauty is that we all have the same opportunity to make that critical decision.
