How To Get Your Attention!

Get attention
Get attention

A wall at the Mexican border will provoke people to react

Yesterday evening for sure your attention was focused on the second debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. The ratings for these political combats hit all records. And it is for a reason.

Let’s admit it. Donald Trump, either you love him, or you hate him. Some people would probably say that he terrifies them. However, whatever your opinion is one thing is for sure:

You are not indifferent!

In my blog post the 23rd of April this year, “What Marketers Can Learn From Donald Trump,” we could see that Hillary Clinton has been a well-known candidate to represent her party and run for the presidency for a long time. This is traditionally the usual path towards the White House.

In the case of Donald Trump, it was an entirely different journey. He announced his candidacy so late as the 16th of June 2015. Less than one year and a half before the elections. Never before this pattern has been seen.

Theoretically, Trump shouldn’t have a chance even to win the elections to represent his own party. But he did. With a lot of turbulence behind, but he did it.

Whatever political opinion you may have, I believe we can agree on one point. Everybody talk about Donald Trump. To such degree that for a while Hillary Clinton almost appeared in the political shadow.

It is evident that Donald Trump had and still has a strategy. The first thing when stepping up on the political stage in June 2015, he had one single goal in mind:

Get your attention!

And indeed he got your attention with a strong statement about a wall along the Mexican border. Two weeks later when the first wave of attention slowly faded out, he boosts it up with:

“….and Mexico gonna pay for that wall!”

After Attention What’s Next?

After attention
After attention

The lesson we all learn from Trump’s original and uncommon entrance on the political arena is that without your attention no-one will listen to you.

Attention is like a key opener to the next level. And the next step is to get out relevant information or content. Due to Donald Trump’s strong opening, no matter if against him or agreeing with him, people is waiting with interest for his next statement or piece of content.

The old formula AIDA; AttentionInterestDecisionAction, still works.

Haters and lovers of Donald Trump for sure can agree on that he got his audience attention.

If the entrance is right and you get the attention, at least people will listen to you, and if your content is of value, the interest will start to grow.

The two debates between the two candidates we just have seen play a fundamental role for the next step in the process. The decision and then finally the action, culminating in giving your vote for one of the two candidates.

Pay Attention To This!

Pay attention
Pay attention

During all the debates and confrontations between the two candidates to run the most powerful country in the world, tons of different promises and statements are delivered to the voters in attempts to get them hooked up on their side.

Among all baits thrown out to attract people, the number one without comparison is:

“Vote for me as your president and I promise you X million new jobs!”

No matter if these new jobs will be created by cutting taxes or adding new taxes, there exist statistics telling a different story.

According to a study made by The Boston Consulting Group in The Internet Economy in the G-20, the Internet economy will grow at a double speed compared to the overall GDP growth in the leading developed countries.

According to the same report, The Internet economy of the G-20 will nearly double between 2010 and 2016.

Further, in the U.S. 4,7% of the GDP year 2010 came from the Internet economy, compared to an estimated figure of 5.4% for 2016.

Automation is one of the cornerstones of successful Internet business. Robotics, computers, and systems are replacing and will replace further an important part of jobs that human beings do today.

Thus, the global growth is mainly going to happen based on the Internet and online connections. Automation is the key, creating less traditional jobs but much more business opportunities.

The different phases of the world economy development also can be described in terms of different skill sets and dominant professions. Read my blog post “Join The Digital Gold Rush” published the 19th of January this year where the economic evolution is analyzed more in detail.

The agriculture revolution 200 years ago fostered professional farmers and agriculturalists. The industrial revolution 100 years later created positions related to engineering and industrial planning.

The digital revolution that started out silently and softly some decades ago with professional IT technicians at the helm has now reached the level where the practical usage of the digitalization is on the frontline. This phase fosters online entrepreneurs. People of all ages, all nationalities, and genders who see an opportunity and an excellent future in the Internet business.

A complete new scheme where the “safety” of a traditional corporate backup, is replaced by goal oriented entrepreneurship where you are accountable but also directly beneficiary of your successful business.

It’s time for you to grab your piece of the cake!

Do I have your attention!
