Why should we keep Santa Claus alive? He’s a fictional character and probably the first big lie you deliver to your kids. The opinion about if it’s OK to lie to your children about Santa or not is divided into two very distinguished groups.

Two years ago I published an article about the same topic, “How Will Santa Survive In The Digital World?” The subject continues to be polemic. Before the entry into the digital era, it was much easier to keep secret the myth about Santa Claus. The abundance of information thanks to the digital evolution, challenges a lot to keep Santa Claus alive. Even children of the age of Santa believers, can today surf around on the Internet and get answers to all their doubts.

We have all been educated that it’s not a good thing to lie. However, there are lies and “lies.” Lies allowed to make are the so-called white lies. The follow-up question will then be: is a white lie OK to keep Santa Claus alive?

As nobody will be harmed by creating Santa, the only way to keep Santa Claus alive would then be to lie about him. All kids believing in Santa view him with respect and on the edge of fear.

However, Santa always brings joy and happiness. On top of that, he uses to hand over some Christmas present to people who have behaved well during the year. Of course, everyone in the room is the whitest sheep on earth.

Usually, all the children are happy and enthusiastic when opening their presents. But what about all the adults in the room? When you get that “terrible” tie that for sure you will never use, and your sister asks if you like it. What do you say? For sure, a new big fat white lie, or….?

Christmas time is also an excellent time to think through what happened during the year, that will come to an end within a few days. What resolution will you have for the year to come? Are you thinking about a change of the way you’re living? Will it be the year when you would like to “fly with your own wings,” and not being a “passenger on your boss’ life journey?”

The bad news is that Santa can’t solve the problem for you. The good news though, is that you can take the necessary steps yourself to figure out how to make it happen. You can do it with curiosity, willingness, and motivation as the only investment.
