Satisfaction after 60 is not what you think. You may believe, or have convinced yourself, that retirement will be marvelous.

  • Waking up at 7, or whatever your habit is
  • Put on the coffee
  • Preparing breakfast
  • Chatting with your partner

And then?

What happens next until lunch? Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but you can probably relate to these four points. And on purpose, I “forgot” something between waking up and coffee to see if you react.

You grab your phone and scroll through your messages, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube to see what happened while you were sleeping. Honestly, how long will that take, half an hour, two hours?

Between all the terrible things that have happened and pure fake news, the conversation around the breakfast table has a packed agenda.

Whatever your days look like, let’s be clear on one thing: we are all under the influence of the digital environment. So the question becomes: how do we handle it?

You can either “close the door” completely, which is difficult, as we also heavily depend on digital features.

So, what’s the solution?

As the old saying goes,

“If you can’t beat them, join them.”

Your Satisfaction After 60 Depends on You

To find satisfaction after 60, you need to do two things: avoid and create. There are 5 steps to a purposeful retirement life that I have applied, and they work.

Step 1: Manage Social Media

This seems simple, but it isn’t. Today, we are so involved in social media that it can be difficult to avoid. But you shouldn’t! What you should do is take control of social media and not let the algorithms decide your life.

In the video below, I explain in more detail how to manage it.

Step 2: Learn to Say “No”

One thing successful leaders and entrepreneurs handle well is saying “no.” You can’t be successful if you say yes to everything. It’s not a lack of education but clear, well-balanced behavior. The video will give you a useful tip for handling this “yes-no” conflict.

Step 3: Protect Your Health

I know, I know…I know you’ve heard this so many times. But what have you done about it? Whatever you do in life, without health, nothing works well. It’s like a sports car with a motor that won’t run a single meter if the tires are flat.

Your body works the same way. You could have the most fantastic ideas and a high level of motivation, but if your health becomes a roadblock, everything else falls apart.

Step 4: Build the Right Routines

Routines are good to have, but they can also damage your life. It all comes down to being conscious of how routines serve you. As we get older, forgetting things becomes more frequent. Certain routines can help you make them almost automatic.

However, if routines start to function as a daily “must-do-now” thing, you’re in danger.

The bottom line:

Routines are good and extremely helpful if you’re in control and not the other way around. Weekly planning is a good routine to have, where you plan the important things to do day by day.

Step 5: Rediscover Your Purpose

If the previous recommendations can be defined as the “cleaning” tasks, purpose in retirement is often left empty as retirement knocks on the door.

When you worked, you had a purpose every day, a task to do. When work disappears, purpose can easily disappear as well.

This is not only an empty space but, in many cases, a reality that pushes your satisfaction after 60 far from what you expected retirement to look like.

How to Find Your Way Back and Create Satisfaction After 60

Satisfaction after 60 doesn’t happen by accident — it’s built through the right daily habits.

In this video, I share 5 tips that helped me go from feeling lost after retirement to being excited about every day, including tip #5, which changed my life at 62.

If you’re struggling with a loss of purpose, identity, or direction since leaving the workforce, this video gives you a real, practical roadmap — not just motivational fluff.

A few days ago, I spoke with someone considering the same type of online business I run. He is 76 years old and argued that his age was against him.

Well, I said:

“I’m 74, so we have both arrived at the seventh floor in life, but I view my building as a skyscraper. How high is your building?”

He didn’t say a word, and that same afternoon, he joined the same system I have been a member of for over a decade.

Satisfaction after 60 has nothing to do with age, but with self-view and willingness to act.

So, What’s Next for You?

Throughout these years of retirement, I have dedicated myself to my business, and what keeps me going is my purpose: to help other retirees who struggle with what I once did.

My blog is an essential part of my business, and of all the over 700 articles I have published so far, this is the first one I’m writing directly from my heart.

If my story sparks an idea in your head, don’t stop there. Watch the video above, then think again: What’s your goal and dream for finding lasting satisfaction after 60?
