Go all in with your happiness after retirement!

How would you define happiness after retirement? Tricky question, right? Happiness is an intangible phrase with many definitions depending on multiple factors.

In this article, we will break down the topic into five straightforward steps that you can easily follow to achieve happiness after retirement, especially if starting an online business is on your radar.

The annual World Happiness Report for 2025 is out now. When it comes to general happiness per country, Finland once again occupies the top spot, followed by the rest of the Nordic countries.

The report is based on self-perceptions without any scientific variables included. In other words, the question was quite straightforward: “ How happy do you feel on a scale from zero to ten?”

What stands out is that Israel is ranked number 8, and Mexico is ranked number 10, two countries involved in conflicts and raising criminality. Thus, perceived happiness must go beyond the external environment where people live.

Happiness After Retirement From a Human Perspective

As a Swede with a personal happiness perspective, it was difficult to point out what makes me really happy compared to people in other parts of the world.

I have lived in Mexico for many years, and the environment here radically differs from Sweden. Despite the difficult situation with rising criminality, Mexico is number ten on the list of countries where people feel happy.

I’m thrilled to be living in Mexico despite the criminality and lack of democracy we are accustomed to in Europe. As a senior, my happiness after retirement living in Mexico focuses on nature, the climate, the good food, friendly people, and the huge variety of culture and history.

In a way, I can downplay the importance of all problems and focus on the positive factors that make me happy in the country.

Searching for an explanation of what really makes us happy, I watched a video by Alexa Saarenoja, an excellent YouTuber I’m following. As an American citizen living in Finland, occupying the top ranking for happiness, in her video “Superpowers required for YouTube Growth (that you didn’t know you had!),” she boils down happiness to 5 essential reasons why Finnish people are happy.

Even if her explanation of happiness is focused on YouTube, it can be related to any activity in life.

Integrity

Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching. It’s about honesty, keeping your promises, and staying true to your values. In business and life, integrity builds trust and long-term success.

With all the scams and “get-rich-quick” schemes on the web, it’s easy to fall into the trap and be tricked into something that turns out to be far from the truth. It takes some time to recognize these trolls. In the meantime, be skeptical and ask for proof and evidence before going into something that can cost you both time and money.

When launching my business, The Golden Age Lifestyle, 14 years ago, the speed of building the business wasn’t priority number one, but getting people into the concept who truly are searching for tips and advice to create that lifestyle they so far only had dreamed about.

Strong Values

Value isn’t just about what something costs but its worth. When you focus on delivering tangible benefits, helping people, and making a difference, you create something that stands out and lasts.

Not until I had been a member of LaunchYou for a while and confirmed that the system and platform aligned with my values was I ready to recommend the same platform to people worldwide.

Simplicity

Simplicity isn’t about doing less—it’s about doing what matters. Cutting through distractions and focusing on the essentials makes success easier in business, relationships, or personal growth.

When your values are in place, it’s not difficult to make things simple and easy to understand. You don’t need to wrap your offer in plenty of fluff. The truth and nothing but the truth is your best partner when building something solid and trustworthy.

When quality comes before quantity, simplicity is your best ally.

Community Support

No one succeeds alone. A strong community lifts you up, provides guidance, and keeps you accountable. Surround yourself with people who inspire and support you; success becomes a shared journey, and you become part of a more extensive network.

What strongly impacted my perception of the online business I went into 14 years ago was the unique community of like-minded people around the world with an entrepreneurial mindset.

With an active and supportive community and all the professional coaches around me, I never feel alone, no matter the magnitude of the problems I run into.

Additionally, our community’s considerable number of members inspires and gives confidence. It is impossible for 7,000 members in the same community as me to be wrong.

Real – No Fakes

Authenticity is your superpower. People connect with real stories, real struggles, and real triumphs. Being yourself is the best way to build trust and meaningful relationships in a world full of filters and fakes. You can trust and rely on this principle in your business journey.

Connecting back to integrity, being authentic and transparent, and avoiding anything interpreted as fake are the backbones of a professional business model. Fluffy promises will easily be detected, putting your potential customer on the fence.

The business I’m offering is not for everyone, and I prefer to lose a prospect instead of using marketing tricks to get them to sign up.

Most people who don’t dare take the step are held back by fear and uncertainty.
