First, let’s talk about plan A, the traditional plan we are accustomed to viewing as a natural and normal retirement. Slowing down, no alarm clock, no traffic jam on your way to your job. It’s just relaxing and doing what you want, all on your terms, every single day, the rest of your life.

It sounds terrific, but then two things hit you after the well-deserved “vacation period.”

Think about it for a while, because what you liked to do used to be something you did pretty well. Retirement, no matter how the transition was, used to be a pretty brutal change. As humans, we react to those dramatic changes in one way or another.

When you enter this moment of insight, it’s the moment to activate your retirement plan B. Write down randomly on a piece of paper what you liked about your job, focusing on what truly motivated you. It could be anything from human-related tasks to practical hands-on tasks. The thing is, you enjoyed it and did it pretty well.

Is there something on your top ten list you would like to do as a retiree, something that feels meaningful to you? What you’re about to do is figure out a passion, something you can do without thinking about time, just feeling happy to do it.

Try your best to challenge yourself and really figure out whether this is something that brings happiness and satisfaction to your daily life.

When you’ve defined what your passion actually means to you, it’s easy to let your thoughts take the next step. What do you need to find success with your accounting skills? Think about how your passion can translate into a viable online activity or business.

When you feel that you dominate a skill that you are passionate about, the question is how to communicate and share your knowledge with the world. For sure, some people would like to learn what you already know as an expert.
